Although predicted behind Messi, one should not be surprised should the Portuguese pip the Argentine for amount of goals scored.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez comes in third with odds set at 14.50, seeing him as a close underdog behind the world’s two best players. His incredible determination for goal scoring has been shown for numerous seasons, and with a squad as talented as Uruguay’s behind him, Suarez managing to find the net is a certainty this summer. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Brazilian starlet Neymar shares the exact same odds, proving the fact that the Barca striker is not one to be forgotten, especially considering he’s with the tournament favourites.

Other contestants include Argentina’s Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain, who with odds set at 20.00 and 22.00 respectively, can still manage goals now and then, however it would be hard to imagine them scoring more goals than Messi. Dutch hitman Robin Van Persie and Italy bad boy Mario Balotelli’s odds of ending up as top scorer are set at 25.00 and 29.00 respectively, topping off a list of 8 players with their potential categorized by the odds predicted.
