BrazilAs we all know, Spain have fallen victim to the World Cup champions’ curse, crashing out at the group stage although entering the tournament as the previous World Cup’s winners.

Apart from Spain’s unexpected early exit from the tournament and certain other factors, the results have of course affected the current odds on the tournament favourites. We shall be analysing the way predicted winners’ odds in place have shifted.

Brazil still lead the race as favourites, yet their football has not been the kind what their nation is known for. They are currently set with odds of 4.05 of winning the tournament. Following closely in second place are Argentina with odds set at 4.55 whilst Joachim Loew’s Die Mannschaft find themselves in third place with odds set at 5.05.

The Netherlands’ rampant start to the tournament has given neutrals a push of confidence in them, with the current odds of an Oranges final victory with odds set at 11.00. In fifth place, Benzema and co. at Les Bleus have begun their campaign in impressive fashion, with their odds currently set at 15.00. In sixth place, the Italians find themselves with odds set at 17.00 after a hard fought yet convincing victory over England.

Meanwhile, current tournament dark horses Belgium and Chile, with the latter responsible for knocking Spain out of the tournament, both find themselves with odds currently set at 23.00.
