World Cup Favourites
With the 20th edition of the biggest football tournament on earth looming, one question in particular is certain to arise from every single fan, and that is ‘Who will end up with the trophy?’.
Whilst a host of strong and well equipped squads envelop this tournament, three countries in particular (picked by various pundits alike) stand out from the rest as the probable favourites.
Emerging triumphant from their last three major national tournaments, La Furja Roja are still one of the best national sides around. Having whizzed through their qualification stage, the squad is stacked with talent, particularly in midfield. One thing is for sure, they hold the first spot in the Fifa Rankings for a reason.
Apart from having a squad which has been on the rise for the past few years, having the tournament on your own home turf is a huge advantage. Stellar talent is found in all areas of a group which have been greatly improved since the arrival of Luiz Felipe Scolari. Playing fluidly in a climate which may influence opposition, it’s impossible to deny the Sele‹o Brasileira as strong favourites.
Die Mannschaft are highly regarded for one particular reason, for they manage to produce potentially title winning squads every single time this tournament is held. With an impressive array of skill and depth in their team, betting against them reaching the very far stages of the tournament might be a mistake.
This is no certainty however, as other strong nations are still competing such as Argentina, Uruguay, Italy and dark horses Belgium. Yet on paper, the three nations mentioned above are the strongest of contenders.
