Manaus Stadium

Much has been said by the media with regard to the Brazilian FA’s irresponsible approach to the preparations required for the World Cup. Well, guess what? The media is right.

The stadium in Manaus, which will be hosting the epic clash between England and Italy on the 14th of June, is still in need of much work following a fertilisation process gone wrong, leaving sections of the pitch devoid of any grass.

Stadium state official Jerocilio Silva is confident that the issue could be solved by using green crystal chemicals to speed up the grass’ growth whilst keeping tight lipped about the fact that the same outcome regarding said grass could actually be a matter of probability. The official is currently playing a huge game of risk, facing disgrace should the pitch not be ready in time for the World Cup.

The stadium is booked to host other interesting group stage clashes, such as Portugal vs USA, Cameroon vs Croatia and Honduras vs Switzerland. Should the suggestion proposed by Silva not be enough to secure the stadium for the World Cup, the whole project would be plunged into further chaos, with the Brazilian FA having already experienced a turbulent process filled with disarray so far during the nation’s preparations.

As USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann stated before last December’s World Cup draw; ‘Everyone wants to avoid Manaus.’
