The Giants are Gearing up – Germany and Italy
Nothing revitalises a fan’s passion for the sport more than the prospect of tantalizing clashes between behemoths of national football in the sport’s biggest stage. In the coming weeks, we shall be looking at the way the favourites of the tournament are preparing themselves ahead of the World Cup.
Die Mannschaft already find themselves well prepared for the World Cup given the abundance of options available for coach Joachim Low. With friendlies set up against Poland, Cameroon and Armenia including a training retreat to Val Passiria in Northern Italy, the Germans seem set to take the tournament by storm, or at least attempt to.
Fans of Die Mannschaft will hope that things will be different this summer, as recent history shows that the ever consistent Germans always seem to crumble when it matters the most.
With just one friendly confirmed so far before the World Cup commences, the Azzurri seem to be taking their preparations timidly. Their one friendly, however, will be the greatest test of their credentials as they will be playing against Spain in Madrid.
At the end of the Serie A season, the squad will attend a training camp at Coverciano, nicknamed ‘Casa Italia’. Cesare Prandelli will be hoping to have a full squad barring injuries available at the tournament for any hope of advancing to the latest stages.
Clashes between both squads have always been of epic proportions, with the Italians seeming to always emerge as victors between the two. Should these footballing giants go head to head this summer, expect nothing but fireworks.
