Italy to create artificial humidity
One concern which a number of European nations raised is that they will suffer to get accustomed to the harsh weather conditions in Brazil.
Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli has confirmed that the nation’s experience during the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil helped them figure out how they would perform in such conditions. Information was also gathered from athletes at the Beijing Olympics which included similar humidity levels.
Since then, the Italian Football Association has confirmed that they are looking into methods of creating an atmosphere which will contain the same humidity levels, which will assist the players in getting accustomed to that particular kind of weather by the time the big tournament begins.
“This time around, the humidity could be a critical factor. This is why we gathered necessary information and tried to structure something new for fitness training”, enthused Prandelli. He has also confirmed that a lot will depend on the players’ fitness levels at the end of the season, stating that his Italian players were in better physical condition for their Euro 2012 tournament rather than the 2013 Confederations Cup.
Should this proposal be approved and succeed, it would be a huge boost for the Azzurri as that would mean that the team will get stronger and won’t necessarily wilt in the scorching Brazilian heat. Keep an eye out on the situation, as an improved Italy also means better odds of them achieving their ultimate target.
